Tonight at church, the pastor made a few comments — as he usually does — about America’s wars, the military, etc.
Something along the lines of “pray for our country,” “pray for the branches of our military who are risking their lives,” “God bless our troops,” etc.

I’ve sat through a few church services where the pastor would make all of the servicemen stand up, or come forward, while the worship team played a few patriotic songs. It always made me a little uncomfortable, but it took a while for me to really consider what it meant. I can’t speak for anyone there personally, but looking back it seems as though they were just playing Christian, with their real lives and real loyalties creeping into whatever they considered to be worship. We can only have one allegiance.
